Self-Care

Are you tired yet of being told to take care of yourself? That your own self-care is one of your most important tasks in grief? I know I tired of that refrain very quickly. There was too much to do. Too many people needed me. I did not have the time or the energy to indulge myself. Sound familiar? Well, in over four years, I am learning that self-care is important. It is not selfish to rest, re-energize and restore yourself. It is not lazy to acknowledge your need for rest. Grief is a full-time job, and anything additional we can accomplish in the midst of grief is downright heroic. Please take care of yourself. You are a worthwhile, wonderful and amazing child of God who deserves to be well.
