Knowing that he had come to raise Lazarus from the grave, still Jesus wept with Mary and Martha. Why? Jesus wept, because he knew that the grieving sisters needed to have their friend hear their pain, their tears and join them in those tears. Jesus wept, because his friends needed him to grieve with them. Then, after joining in their sorrow, Jesus restored their lives, their brother. We can offer our grieving friends the gift of hearing them, witnessing their grief and joining them in it. Peace.
