A year ago, an internal flood damaged three rooms in my home. It took six months for the contractors to complete their work. Then began my work to reconstruct the way my home “should” look after the renovation and reconstruction were complete. I am still working on that project. In April I moved an antique baby rocker from my great grandfather into my living room. In it, I placed a memory bear created from Pop and Mom’s shirts. This rocker represented my ancestors on Middle Creek. The memory bear represents my parents and my immediate history. My living room represents me. You can find creative ways to honor your traditions and legacy in your own way. This creativity also honors your need to remember and to move forward. Be creative. Find your own way. Peace.
